How Overtime & Holiday Pay Is Computed in the Philippines

Enter your monthly basic salary and SweldoSense derives your daily rate (salary ÷ 21.75) and hourly rate (daily ÷ 8) using the official DOLE factor under RA 9292. Select the day type — regular day, special non-working holiday, regular holiday, rest day, or combined rest day + holiday — then enter regular hours, overtime hours, and optional night differential (10pm–6am) hours.

Overtime pay = hourly rate × 1.25 × overtime hours worked (regular day). Rest day and holiday overtime use higher multipliers per DOLE rules.

Overtime pay applies the day-type multiplier first, then the overtime multiplier (for example, 1.25× on a regular day or 1.30× on top of a holiday rate). Night differential adds 10% of the applicable hourly rate for each ND hour, stacked on day multipliers for regular ND and on day × OT multipliers for ND during overtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is overtime pay computed in the Philippines?

Overtime pay on a regular working day is the hourly rate multiplied by 125% for each hour worked beyond 8 hours. On a rest day or special non-working holiday, the overtime rate is 169% of the hourly rate. On a regular holiday, it is 200% of the hourly rate for regular hours and 260% for overtime hours.

What is night differential pay in the Philippines?

Night differential (ND) applies to hours worked between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Under Philippine labor law (Labor Code Art. 86), employees are entitled to an additional 10% of their hourly rate for each hour of night work. For BPO and shifting employees, ND is computed on top of the regular or overtime rate.

How does SweldoSense convert monthly salary to an hourly rate?

Daily rate = monthly basic salary ÷ 21.75 (DOLE factor). Hourly rate = daily rate ÷ 8. Premiums for day type, overtime, and night differential are then applied to that hourly rate.

What is the difference between a regular holiday and a special non-working day?

Worked regular holidays pay 200% for the first 8 hours (260% per OT hour). Worked special non-working days pay 130% for the first 8 hours (169% per OT hour). Unworked regular holidays are generally paid; unworked special days are typically no-work-no-pay unless company policy or a CBA says otherwise.

Does night differential stack with overtime and holiday premiums?

Yes. SweldoSense applies the day-type multiplier first, then the overtime multiplier for OT hours, then adds 10% night differential on the applicable hourly rate for each ND hour (including ND during overtime).

What rate applies if a regular holiday falls on my rest day?

Rest day + regular holiday work pays 260% for the first 8 hours. Overtime on that day uses the stacked OT factor (260% × 130% = 338% of the regular hourly rate per OT hour).
